Water Softener Salt Tablets
Water Softener Salt Tablets (sodium chloride) is working by the mechanism of ion exchange process in a resin tank .It removes the hardness ions such as magnesium and calcium from the water.
The hardness ions are exchanged for sodium ions, which it comes from the softener salt. While this process is happening, the resin beads in the resin tank become saturated with hardness ions. The regeneration should be done once in a week. If they are not regenerated, it stops working.
Why Salt is Used in Water Softeners
1. Water softeners remove hardness minerals (mainly calcium and magnesium) from water.
2. They use ion exchange resin beads that trap these minerals.
3. Salt (sodium chloride or potassium chloride) is used to regenerate the resin beads so they can keep working.
Tips for Use
1.Keep the brine tank at least half full of salt.
2.Break up salt bridges (hard crusts) if they form.
3.Clean the brine tank once a year to prevent buildup.
