Iron Removal Filter in chennai
Iron Removal Filter in chennai
Iron is one of the most common and problematic contaminants found in groundwater and borewell water. Although iron is not harmful in small quantities, excess iron in water causes serious issues such as bad taste, staining, pipe corrosion, and damage to household and industrial equipment.

At Jei Aqua Tech, we provide advanced Iron Removal Plants designed to eliminate iron from water efficiently and ensure clean, clear, and safe water for domestic, commercial, and industrial use.
Why Iron Should Be Removed from Water
Excess iron in water leads to multiple problems:
-
Bitter and metallic taste
-
Yellow, brown, or reddish coloration of water
-
Staining on sinks, tiles, clothes, and plumbing fixtures
-
Clogging and corrosion of pipelines
-
Reduced life of washing machines, heaters, boilers, and pumps
-
Increased maintenance and operating costs
-
Skin irritation, hair fall, and unpleasant bathing experience
Long-term consumption of iron-rich water may also affect digestion and can lead to tissue damage.
Forms of Iron in Water
Iron mainly exists in two chemical forms:
-
Ferrous Iron (Fe²⁺)
This is dissolved iron and is not visible in clear water but oxidizes when exposed to air. -
Ferric Iron (Fe³⁺)
This is oxidized iron that appears as brown or reddish suspended particles in water.
Iron also combines with bicarbonates, sulphates, phosphates, and organic matter, increasing its solubility and making treatment more difficult. Water with low alkalinity usually contains higher iron levels.
Jei Aqua Tech Iron Removal plant in Chennai
Our iron removal systems use a proven multi-stage treatment method to ensure maximum efficiency.
Stage 1 – Chemical Pre-Treatment
To adjust the pH and accelerate oxidation, a carefully controlled chemical dose is added to the raw water. This improves the effectiveness of aeration and prepares the iron for removal.
Stage 2 – Aeration Process
Jei Aqua Tech provides two highly efficient aeration systems iron filter in chennai.
A. Online Aeration System
The chemically treated water is passed through a specially designed aeration tank with three chambers. Water flows in a zig-zag pattern through perforated pipes and multiple vents, allowing maximum contact with air. During this process, dissolved ferrous iron gets oxidized into ferric iron, forming suspended particles.
B. Storage Aeration System (8–10 Hours)
Water is sprayed into a storage tank or sump using perforated pipes and allowed to remain for 8 to 10 hours. During this time, natural oxidation converts dissolved iron into suspended form, making it ready for filtration.
Stage 3 – Filtration
The oxidized iron-rich water is passed through a multi-layer filtration unit consisting of:
-
Manganese Dioxide
-
Activated Carbon
-
Graded Quartz Sand
-
Fine and Super-Fine Silica Sand
-
Support Gravel and Pebbles
These layers trap suspended iron particles, dirt, and impurities, producing crystal-clear, iron-free water.
Backwashing Process
Over time, the filter media collects iron and dirt, increasing pressure inside the system. When the pressure reaches a preset level, the system is backwashed. During backwashing, water flows in reverse to remove trapped contaminants and clean the filter bed. After rinsing, the unit is ready for normal operation again.
